Content marketing in 2021 – looking ahead

It's definitely time to start thinking about your content strategy for 2021!

Many businesses have been in survival mode all year, which is totally understandable, and planning ahead just wasn't a priority. 

As the year is coming to a close, it's important to make time for future planning and set goals for the coming year. 

Here are a few ideas to get you started! 

Headlines

Be honest – how much work are you putting into your headlines? 

Are you placing your keywords towards the beginning? Are you optimizing the character count? 

Search Engine Journal said, "The standard practice for SEO professionals is to create title tags between 50-60 characters because Google typically truncates everything after 60."

Spending an extra 5-10 minutes per article to carefully craft your headline could make a huge difference. 

Internal Links

Internal links are another place where an extra 5-10 minutes of work can really pay off in the long run. 

It's a good idea to make this easier on yourself – keep a list of content you have already written handy! This will help job your memory when creating new content so you can create more of those valuable internal link opportunities. 

New Topics

Challenge yourself this year!

Set aside time for a few brainstorming sessions – either by yourself or with your team – to come up with new ideas. 

What topics do you wish you had gotten to last year? What new topics can you think of? Try to space those out with your "go to" blog topics throughout the next year.
