Two important steps when assessing your content marketing strategy

Are you creating content?

That's a great accomplishment in itself, but that's just the first step!

In order to get the most from your content, it's important to have a content marketing strategy in place.

Here are two great tips if you are just starting out.

1. Vary your content

Having a niche is a good thing. You want to be creating quality content around specific topics and goals, but don't let yourself get too narrow.

Challenge yourself to reach outside of your comfort zone by doing keyword research and working to answer questions that your target audience would have. For example, if you provide roofing for houses don't just create content about shingles and leaks. Try making some seasonal articles about Christmas decorations on the roof, or even landscaping and curb appeal!

Offering well-rounded content can make your blog more interesting to readers. Plan this into your content strategy by spacing and balancing content throughout those different categories.

2. How will your content be shared?

Putting content on your website is great – but it's probably not enough!

The bottom line is that if you are putting the energy into creating content, you should be sharing it as much as you can!

Social media is a great way to attract readers to your blog and lead them into your website. When planning your content marketing strategy, don't forget to include how you will market your content!

Forbes said, "Having someone on your team or to partner with who has social media expertise can go a long way. Social media done right is invaluable, and more so than ever in 2020, as the pandemic has led to more time online and increased social media usage."

Happy strategizing!
